Peter the Marine Animal Rescuer Needs Your Help

Dear friends, ocean lovers, environmentalists, and our supporting community,

For over 35 years Peter Wallerstein has dedicated his life to protecting marine animals throughout the entire Santa Monica Bay to the furthest reaches of Long Beach. You may have seen him in action on your local beach patrolling the shores of the bay in search of and rescuing starving or injured sea lions and seals to get them to the safety of a rehabilitation center for diagnosis and treatment. He has facilitated over 6,500 rescues of marine mammals, created a 24-hour hotline for the community to report distressed ocean mammals, and deveopled a rescue team on Catalina Island. Throughout the many years, Peter has shown his unwavering commitment to our community and our ocean life, never failing to answer the call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week helping marine life thrive and remain healthy. Now, Peter needs our help.

Despite being a vegetarian for over 40 years and in optimal health, Peter discovered he has a genetic heart condition that has resulted in an 85% blockage of his right artery causing great concern for his health and well-being. Because of his unforeseen condition, Peter's medical bills have been mounting making it incredibly difficult for him to get to the beach to help protect and save the wildlife that is so important to our ecosystem.

We are kindly asking for anything you can contribute to help Peter through this difficult time. Our goal is to relieve the financial burden that hangs over him so that he can focus on his recovery and the marine animals which he has devoted over 35 years of his life to saving.
