Pete’s Go Fund Me
Almost one year ago on July 22, 2019 Pete was traveling for work as he often did. He was driving out near South Dakota. He was following a truck. The truck he was following made a sudden lane change which cleared Pete’s view. Sitting directly in front of him in the middle of the lane was a stopped vehicle. This vehicle offered no hazards or any other warning that it was stopped and had not pulled to the shoulder. With no time left to react, Pete did what he could to minimize the catastrophe.
Pete was extremely lucky to survive the accident but wrist and back injuries from the accident have caused a long series of unfortunate events that are still plaguing him almost a year later. We thank GOD Pete survived that day but continue to ask for his guidance as we try to find the best way out of this storm.
Following up with a Dr immediately it was determined that Pete would need at least two surgeries to attempt to correct his wrist and back. Both surgeries were completed as well as hundreds of hours of physical therapy. Pete has been faithful to his doctor ordered therapy three times per week three and a half hours per day. Since the day of the accident he remains unemployed. His doctor would not clear him to go back to work since healing was not complete. Daily tasks have been a struggle as the pain and numbness are ongoing. Sleep has been difficult as well. Worker’s comp has been paying some up until recently when it was decided that this injury was not “Work related.” This came as a shock as he was on the job in a work vehicle during the accident.
Pete is gearing up to go to battle and fight his case but without worker’s comp payments it will be very difficult to make ends meet until his case is settled. It was suggested that if he wins his case it will likely be 6 mos to a year before he sees any money.
The bills continue to roll in even when the paycheck isn’t. A farm payment, vehicle, electric, gas, groceries all become overwhelming responsibilities when you don’t have an income. We are hopeful that although Pete has to pay 20% of his health insurance now it may last to November. Although we have been warned that it may run out prior to that. Pete will continue to go to physical therapy until he is instructed to stop even if he ends up paying out of pocket for it. Child support needs to be paid for Pete’s amazing little guy.
There are still so many unknowns as this storm continues to roll in. But one thing that is evident is there are more bills than money at this time. First and foremost, we are asking for your prayers. We know GOD is in full control and has a plan and a reason. We will continue to trust him as we walk through this time. Next, if you live locally and are interested in buying farm equipment please Pete has some for sale. Farm animals are also available for sale. Sadly, the farm will also be up for sale. We are hoping he has a chance to find a buyer. If you feel moved to donate feel free to do so. Please spread the word as well.
We thank you in advance for all your prayers, thoughts and assistance in this journey.
