Petey needs diagnostic tests for his neck!

Hello, my name is Nicole and I am raising funds for my beloved dog Pete. Petey is in pain and we aren’t 100% sure why, but it could be a pinched nerve or meningitis. He really needs to see the neurologist. That visit is $300 to start. We have that appointment coming up on Friday. An MRI and spinal tap is anywhere around $3000-5000. We are trying multiple different medicine protocols already but they don’t seem to be working. I believe that if there is anything we can do to help Pete, I’d like to know that I’ve done my best.. If nothing else can be done then we will talk about quality of life when we get there. He was so healthy otherwise, he use to think he was a puppy still..
Let me tell you a bit about Petey.
Pete was born 2/5/13. I got Pete when he was 3 months old on May 9th 2013. He was my baby and I never thought I’d have children (ended up have 2 after him!). I gave my all to this dog. We did years of training together, bonding, winning contests for best tricks (play dead) and the loudest bark! But he’d always like to play “catch me if you can” if he was off leash!
Let me tell you some stories. About 1 year after having my daughter, Pete decided to eat multiple things (ducky, teether, a part of a toy), and needed to get surgery. Phew, that was close! Anyway, years go by, he did throw his back out several different times. Once at doggie daycare about 4 years ago, and another last year just running around outside. He has since been going monthly for VOM treatment on his back and joints.
October 2023, he had lumps growing rapidly. They were soft tissue sarcoma on his back legs. They both were taken off on 2 separate surgery dates. He got thru surgery with flying colors. The margins were good and low grade. Good job Petey!
Then around March 20th, 2024 Petey is showing signs of pain. He is twitching and wincing with a high-pitched yelp. My heart breaks. I immediately call my vet. Now we keep him gated in his bed which he hates because he wants to follow me wherever I go.. It’s hard for him to get up, go down just a couple steps, and go out. I can’t touch his face because he will wince away in pain. There are nights where I fall asleep on the couch to stay close to him. There are nights I wake up to make sure he is ok.
So, if there is nothing more to be done, I understand it’s best we make decisions appropriately for his last days and just keep him comfortable for now.
Please, if you can help in any way we would be forever grateful. And if not then please just share this to others.
Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart.
