Cystic Fibrosis-Peyton’s Story
Donation protected
Hi my name is Sue Lindsey a family member of the Peyton Schmidt.
Oh behalf of Peyton’s parents, I have created this GoFundMe Memorial to assist in the funeral and burial of our sweet boy.
Peyton was born on April 18, 2007, a beautiful baby boy with one flaw, he was born with Cystic Fibrosis which was a constant battle for him until the very end. Peyton lived a much different life than other kids his age. He couldn’t play team sports, or run around outside for long periods of time just playing kid games, because Peyton had sick lungs that continued to worsen. Peyton spent his short life continuously in and out of the hospital, more in than out. He recently spent a week at Barnes Jewish Children's Hospital to be evaluated for a double lung transplant. Even though Peyton was cursed with this ugly disease he looked at life a little differently than everyone else, he enjoyed the little things like playing video games and spending time with his family and friends, he loved art, animals and nature. He had a great sense of humor and brought smiles and laughter to everyone.
His big beautiful eyes and his smile could light up any room. He was such a happy boy that didn’t ask for much, he was so selfless that when leaving the Children’s Hospital not knowing if he would ever get new lungs, he simply said “thats ok, I guess I am just not done with these lungs yet”. He was such a kind, compassionate and sometimes silly young man that loved his simple life.
Sadly, a little past 4:00 pm on Thursday October 5, 2023, Peyton took his last breath, he got “done with those lungs”. He is no longer in pain, or attached to any machines, he is flying pain free among us as an angel in the sky. On that same day, the family was attending his grandfather’s funeral (his Mom’s dad) that passed away a few days prior from brain cancer. Peyton wasn’t feeling up to attending, but had plans to watch movies with his dad after the funeral. When his Dad got home, he noticed Peyton didn’t look well, and asked Peyton if he needed to go to the hospital, Peyton said “yes”, and that was the last word he said. His dad took every measure possible to resuscitate him, but when paramedics arrived, they said he was gone.
The loss of a child is the most devastating thing a parent can go through. Peyton’s Mom and Dad are completely broken, as is the entire family.
This fundraiser has generated a small portion of money needed to cover the funeral and burial, but we are still so far from the goal. This family could really use the financial support to pay the funeral bill and not have to carry this burden of cost for sending their boy off to run with all the other angels. All donations will be sent to Millard Family Chapels, Jefferson City MO. Thank you in advance for you support. Please share this with your family, friends and colleagues and lets get this bill paid. ❤️
