Keoni Kaopio

Our beloved Keoni Kalei Ikaikaokalani Kaopio was a wonderful Son, Grandson, Brother, Nephew, Cousin, Friend and Father who touched the lives of those around him with his humor, smile, and distinct laughter. He leaves behind many family members who loved him dearly, his Grandma Lee, Mother Nani, Uncles, Aunties, brothers and sisters, and hānai Moniz `Ohana, but none more so than his Daughter Taiana Kaopio.
Growing up, Keoni didn’t have the easiest of times during his school years, but eventually he got the high school diploma he deserved. He loved going to the beach to throw horseshoes, bodyboarding, playing video games, riding bike around the property and fishing when we could. He also took up Hula dancing under his godfather kumu hula Rae Fonseca at Halau Hula o Kahikilaulani and even spent time with legendary kumu hula such as hula master George Naope. In fact, many do not know that Keoni was given an alternate Hawaiian name of Lani Ha`aha`a by uncle George. He participated in the Merrie Monarch Festival as both a conch shell blower in the royal court for a few years and as a Dancer in 2004.
As an adult, Keoni did not have the easiest of times. His primary accomplishment and pride will always be his daughter Taiana. Whenever we spoke his focus was always on her, making sure he had the ability to contact her and try to be a part of her life regardless of the physical distance between them. And even though their time together was short, it was filled with Love and Adoration.
We are all devastated by Keoni’s loss at such a young age and were not prepared for the cost of his remaining bills and other services. We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Keoni’s final bills, services, cremation, and return home to Hawaii. All additional funds will be given to his Daughter Taiana directly through his brother Shane Moniz who lives nearby.
Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time.
Thank you so much and have a wonderful day.
