John Dobbins
John Alan Dobbins, 43 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020.
John was born on May 4, 1977 in Amarillo, TX to Johnny and Cindy (Burchfield) Dobbins. When John was 8 years old, the family moved to Dumas where John attended school and graduated from Dumas High School in 1995. After high school, John became a firefighter and a paramedic serving in Perryton, TX where he met and married Heather. The couple moved to Kerrville and eventually back to Dumas where they made their home and raised their two daughters, Harlee and Jazlyn. John worked in the oilfield for Scout energy partners when he was diagnosed with liver failure. He fought very hard and was awaiting a transplant. He was on long term disability and finally awarded SSI disability 2 weeks before he passed away. He will be awarded back pay that will all have to be paid back to long term disability. Scout also canceled his life insurance and and health insurance so his family had to use all of his retirement and savings to pay bills. We appreciate any help. Thank you.
I wanted to let everyone know what’s going on with John Dobbins. As most of you know John has been in advanced liver failure for almost 3 years. He’s done everything doctors have advised him to do. About a month ago he started getting more fluid on his abdomen than usual. Last week it was to the point he could no longer eat. Our good friends Doc and Lolly came by to check on him and set up and emergency paracentesis in Dumas. They took off over 3 liters of fluid which helped a great deal. We came to the GI specialist yesterday who sent us straight to BSA ER to be admitted for another paracentesis. They think he has about 8 liters of fluid left to take off. He currently weighs 190 pounds with all the fluid which is tiny for John. It’s crazy here in the hospital. We were in the ER waiting room for 6 hours yesterday and several hours in the ER before he was admitted. I can only stay with him for 4 hours today. Hopefully they can do his procedure before I have to leave. Please pray. We need everyone we can get. This came from his wife Heather Dobbins. Please help this family get him to Dallas to see the transplant Dr.
