Dear friends, family, and kindhearted supporters,

Life can change in an instant, and our family has been living that reality for the past few weeks. My stepson, Johnny, went from experiencing what seemed like minor stomach discomfort to fighting for his life in the ICU. It has been a heartbreaking, terrifying, and exhausting journey, one that is far from over.

A Life-Threatening Emergency

One night, after a light dinner, Johnny collapsed in unbearable pain. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered a ruptured ulcer and a perforated stomach, leading to septic shock and, soon after, a stress induced heart attack.

Johnny spent two weeks in critical condition in the ICU, undergoing multiple emergency surgeries, intubation, and extensive medical interventions to keep him alive. His body was overwhelmed by infection, and for days, we held our breath, praying he would pull through.

Johnny is one of the strongest people I know, and true to his spirit, he is still here, fighting.

A Long Road to Recovery

Though we are beyond grateful that Johnny survived, his recovery will be long, challenging, and unpredictable. He remains in the hospital, still battling the effects of sepsis, heart strain, and the toll of multiple surgeries. He is slowly regaining strength, but every step forward is met with new hurdles.

Beyond the physical battle, this has turned our family’s world upside down. His wife, Kacey, had just accepted a wonderful job opportunity, but she has put everything on hold indefinitely to be by his side. With Johnny unable to work and Kacey unable to start her new job, the financial burden is overwhelming.
