DONATE TO THE PGH ARTISTS EMERGENCY FUND

The preventative measures we, as a community, have taken to minimize the spread of COVID-19 to our friends and family (& particularly to populations who are most vulnerable to the virus), have been comprehensive, and representative of the solidarity of our communities, and our capacity to unite.

We’re happy that our collective response is cautious, and intentional. However, With the global pandemic of COVID-19, there are no safety nets to which our local and regional performers can rely on to support their immediate needs. Many artists and Performers rely on payments from gigs as their primary income source. Gigs have been cancelled en masse and missed payments have already started. These funds are needed immediately. Pittsburgh artists can apply to the emergency fund online at the link embedded.

We are currently raising $15,000 to provide payments of up to $250 per artist, to help abet the costs due to cancelled gigs and jobs. This can go towards helping people pay their rent, pay their bills, purchase food and other essentials.

This fundraiser is hosted by a group of artists and community organizers based in Pittsburgh responding to the urgent need of our friends and community who have been put in compromised positions due to the cancellation of entire tours, all of their gigs, and jobs in the nightlife and events industry.

EDIT 3/20 - The beneficiary listed for this campaign is Mitch Swain, CEO of the incredible Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council (GPAC)  who has agreed to provide administrative support to this campaign as the volume of applicants and donations has increased. GPAC will be receiving the funds and sending checks directly to the artists who applied, with the support of the fundraising team.

Whether working security at a club, performing for a large audience, hosting a drag show, or playing with a band, artists and performers need mutual aid to stay safe.

We will also be posting additional ways to support. Donations go directly to the artists. Artists are a life force in our community. The performers and event staff provide us an outlet for our frustrations, bring us cause to celebrate, and dedicate their lives to entertaining -- Let us give back to them!
