My name is JJ and I have a dear friend who is in need of your help. Rene is a single mom who started out fostering her now 3 year old adopted son Ryan when he was only 5 days old. Rene and Ryan have an amazing bond and they adore each other. They open their house to foster children when there is a need. She is a speech language therapist at Marian Hope, a non-profit organization that provides therapy and education for children. She is an amazing therapist, advocate for children, mother and friend.
For the past couple of years, Rene has been having increasingly severe gastrointestinal symptoms including pain and nausea. She has been seen by traditional doctors, specialists, naturopathic/homeopathic doctors and chiropractors. They have run a variety of tests. The tests were not clear as to why she is constatly ill and in pain. I told Rene this summer that I have never seen someone in so much pain. Uncontrollable, unfixable pain. It completely breaks my heart.
With no relief or answers, her local doctors recommended she be evaluated through Mayo or Johns Hopkins. After the Johns Hopkins team reviewed her medical records, she received a call saying she had been accepted for an initial appointment. I was with her when the call came in and I got to see her face and the tears of joy as she saw a light at the end of the dark painful tunnel.
As Rene started making phone calls to insurance and set up for the initial appointment on November 11, she discovered that Johns Hopkins is "Out of Network". This means she will need to meet a $7000 deductible before they will pay 50% up to $12,000 AND if her care crosses over into next year she will need to start over with her deductible. She will be traveling to and from Maryland at least twice. Costs will include flight, medical bills, hotel and food. I want to help her, but can only give a little, so I thought if others were able to give a little (or alot!) we could possibly get her funded and let God do the healing she is so desperately needing.
