Woken by fire

Early in the morning this past Sunday (6/7/2020) my friend lost his home to an unexpected fire. While my sister, her boyfriend (Dontay) and his 4 roommates were asleep, someone intentionally set fire to a couple of the cars parked out front around 4 am. It wasn’t until around 4:30 that loud popping sounds woke up some of the roommates, allowing them to wake up just in time to escape the fire. Once on the scene, the fire department was able to control the fire from spreading, however, the house was so damaged that it’s now unsafe for them to live in. Dontay’s room got the worst of the fire because it was directly above the garage (pictures of what remained are below). All of his belongings and personal possessions were destroyed. Because they were all in bed when the fire happened, they were forced to leave the house with only the pajamas they were wearing. 

I am hoping to raise funds on Dontay’s behalf to help him purchase new clothing, shoes, furniture, bedding, glasses, housing, etc. All donations will go directly to him to help get him back on his feet. As the new business owner of Crowned Cuts in Laurel, MD, who opened up right before the COVID outbreak (forcing him to shut down for a while), this has brought on a lot of emotional stress and financial costs; so I hope this will help alleviate some of the challenges that he is facing as he tries to recover from this.
