Phase 2 and Rebuilding REN ART WLK
Donation protected
In the summer of 2019, the greater Rensselaer community came together and created one of the most impressive displays of public art in the state of Indiana.
Our plans for phase 2 were abruptly altered with a devastating fire that not only took out many small businesses, but also a large portion of our community public art.
This summer (Summer2020), our ambition is to at the least, add 4 more murals to recover the amount lost, and evolve the art walk.
Why are we doing this?
1. Community Spirit: No other initiative in 2019 generated more excitement and energy in Rensselaer than the ART WLK. we truly came together and created this as a cohesive community project.
2. Quality of Life: A creative environment nurtures creative thinking. Public art is for everyone. It's a benefit for a community as EVERYONE can participate in some capacity. Over 100 adults and children picked up a can of spray paint and participated. EVERYONE that wants to participate, gets to participate. The REN ART WLK once again, is for EVERYONE.
3. Boost in tourism: Increased traffic to Rensselaer as a destination or stopping point benefits local business and energy. Frequent stoppers from I65 made a point to experience the walk. Guests were documented from L.A. , Chicago, Indianapolis, New York, New Orleans, and much more. We even had a small plane fly into Rensselaer's airport to view our ART WLK!
4. It's unique: The REN ART WLK has the potential to be the most saturated and best quality creative initiative in the entire state and beyond. Evolving the ART WLK continues to validate this.
How can you help? Donating here is a great start :) First and foremost, we need contributions to ensure we can lock in more of the world's leading street art artists to create in our community. We put a strong emphasis on local participation, education, and fun with the decision making process.
By February, we need to secure funding to secure artists and have everything in motion for Summer 2020.
Please help us inspire through public art and continue to evolve creativity in Rensselaer.
