Phats Cycling charity ride for The Man Cave 2024

Phats Cycling Club is an inclusive club designed to promote physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Stick Phat - stay close, connected and caring! This our third year doing a charity ride event to raise money for preventative mental health organisation The Man Cave. The ride will be occurring on Friday 19th April - Sunday 21st April 2024.

The Man Cave is a preventative mental health and emotional intelligence charity empowering communities to raise generations of healthy young men.

They have worked with 65,000+ teenage boys across the country, providing them with impactful programs, role models and resources. Boys leave Man Cave workshops with the critical emotional and social skills they need to become great men for themselves, those around them and their communities.

Man Cave's vision is to create a world in which every young man has healthy relationships, reaches his full potential and contributes to his community.

Your donation will help The Man Cave reach more young men, particularly those in rural or underprivileged communities.

Find out more about Man Cave via these links - feel free to tag them on their social media platforms!

As for the Phats, the term is a derivative of sticking together or 'Stick Phat'. It was formed by just a few close mates over 25 years ago who were old footballers and sport enthusiasts who no longer had enough time with family & work to be as closely involved in spotting clubs. They still wanted to come together for a walk, run, ride or swim before work to maintain a level of fitness and friendship, a tradition which continues without to much formality and benefits all who patriciate.

This will be our 3rd annual cycling event, held this year over 3 days between 19th - 21st April. In the first 2 years of running our charity ride, we’ve raised and donated over $45,000 to The Man Cave.

The Phats have time to reflect across the 3 days which takes in around 400km of team cycling. They share powerful experiences, the feeling of connectivity and a true sense of acceptance and vulnerability.

We have The Man Cave's CEO, Hunter Johnson, joining our post-ride awards ceremony and talk to us about the important work they do and the positive impact it’s having on our young people and amazing work they’re doing in schools and beyond for mental health. We welcome all event supporters to attend this Sunday afternoon wrap up along with family and friends of riders and fellow Phats.

It also gives particpants the chance to celebrate some of the rewarding and unforgettable moments from the 3 day weekend. We take a leaf out of The Man Cave's mantra and choose to honour our fellow friends and speak about our gratitude for our friendships. This reminder that we are all connected, we are a family, we are a tribe, we are one - it is a grounding reminder that we have the strength, support and inspiration to be better versions of ourselves for our families, our friends and our community.

If you or any business affiliates would be interested in supporting our ride directly, we’d love to chat to you. You can reach the Phats via Andrew Phillips, on 0412 388 897.
