December 13th I got a call that my gaga was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Quickly we found out that she had an abcess on her right shoulder blade and she was going to need surgery to drain it. It was then determined that she had multiple other bacteria and infections that had gone to her blood stream. After being on a wide variety of antibiotics to cover all of the infections it was now in her heart and she was not a candidate for surgery. I was told if she would make it out of this she would be on antibiotics for the rest of her life. She also had a PET scan to make sure that the infection had no spread any further than her heart after they had treated it with. antibiotics. During the PET scan they found a 25 cm tumor in her colon that had been sucking all of the nutrients out of her before her body had time to process it. It was determined that this tumor was some form of cancer. This is when we were told she was not a candidate for chemo or to have it surgically removed. We were then told she would have weeks to months to live. Things then took a turn and went downhill faster than we expected her blood pressure was dropping and she was needing more and more oxygen her body was fighting its hardest but it just could not do take anymore. She passed comfortably on January 11,2022. For those that knew my grandma she was the most kind loving person even with animals. She would do anything to help anyone and often put other people's needs before her own. She is no longer suffering and I am certain she is in heaven catching up with my great great grandparents my papaw and my mom. We are doing our best to raise enough to have her cremated as those were her final wishes. Unfortunately this is falling on to myself as well as the other kids. Anything helps and is very much appreciated.
