About Me:

My name is Ryan. I am a Doctoral Student in the Counselor Education & Supervision program at Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMUC).

I am a first generation and low-income student from The Bahamas, who is passionate about providing meaningful support to first-generation students, and low-income students, as well as their families.

My Need:

While my monetary need is not much, I still do have a need. Currently, I have a balance remaining to pay from this Spring 2024 semester, in order to be able to register for Summer 2024 & Fall 2024 courses. Being able to register for classes, would ensure that I would remain on track to completing my PhD degree in 2025.

I do have an income, as a Graduate Research Assistant, which is only part time, and is less than $1,500 per month. My entire income goes toward my monthly expenses, and there is nothing usually leftover to pay toward my balance, and other expenses that arise.

Scholarships currently cover part of my tuition, but I am solely responsible for the fees, hence the balance owed.

What Will Your Donation Be Used For:

My GA appointment is only for the Fall & Spring semesters. This means that I will not have receive a salary in June, July & August. Any additional funds donated/raised, will go towards expenses for those months.

Future Plans:

Teach at an institution of higher education, while working in a private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My counseling practice will be for the whole family, and include internship opportunities for student Counselors in training to fulfill requirements for licensure and other credentials. I hope to have a practice in my home country of The Bahamas as well, and provide the same above mentioned services.
