Help for Dylan's Disorder
Donation protected
My name is Dylan Vallat, I am a junior in high school in Dublin CA. I was diagnosed with charcot-marie-tooth disorder a little over a year ago. CMT is a neuro-muscular disease, with no possible cure, that attacks the extremities of the body and prohibits muscles from doing the work that they need to do. I noticed a loss in ability to walk normally, then I realized that I started tripping alot for no reason. My muscles in my ankles are atrophied and I barely have any support at all which have cause me to fall and get hurt. My parents recently had to buy me custom pair of orthopedic shoes to wear at a cost of $3000 and I have seen some improvement with these shoes.
I have been through physical therapy, accupuncture and anything that helps relieve some of the pain. I just adopted a dog to be my service dog, his name is Kindred and he is going off to school on january 3rd. The school is another $3000, he is going to help me become more independent as I get older and to help me with stability.
Thank you for any help that you can provide, as it means so much to me that you care.
