Phi Delt Fights ALS: Help Us Provide Hope & Funding

As an active brother of Phi Delta Theta, I'm proud to work with the Live Like Lou Foundation in the fight against ALS. Phi Delta Theta has a long history of service and philanthropy, and our collaboration with Live Like Lou allows us to leverage our national network to make a real impact in the fight against the disease. The Live Like Lou Foundation is strongly dedicated to providing essential support for families affected by ALS, funding innovative research, and ultimately finding safe, effective treatments as well as potential cures for this devastating disease.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles, slowly kills the five motor functions, and accounts for 5,000 new cases annually. With time, patients lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually even breathe. After showing symptoms, patients are expected to live no longer than 2–5 years. ALS doesn't just affect the patients; it takes a devastating toll on their families, who slowly lose loved ones that they’ve for so long known as Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Spouse, Best Friend. With these facts, oftentimes, we see those affected families become the caregivers and eventual witness to the progressive decline of their loved ones with time.

This is the restricting and invading reality of those diagnosed with ALS, and it can invoke fear, frustration, depression and lead to other internal problems as a result. The Live Like Lou Foundation provides a reassuring beacon of hope, offers vital resources, a community, and loving support to families facing this unfathomable challenge. Money you donate fuels research that provides critical services, further develops safe and effective treatments for patients fighting the disease, and helps in the discovery for cures. The Live ike Lou Foundation works closely with the brothers of Phi Delta Theta across the nation and our vast network to amplify our impact through careful volunteer projects and in-depth fundraising efforts.
