I (Phil Alcorn) have been blessed to be able to witness in person the difference that Charlene's Project makes in the lives of some of the most disadvantaged children in the world. What started as the dream of a brave young local woman awaiting a lung transplant, to raise money for education in Uganda, has grown to support 8 primary schools and 1 secondary school in Uganda, 3 primary schools for Syrian refugees in Turkey and Jordan and 2 primary schools in remote mountainous communities of Guatemala. They work to change lives through empowerment of women and girls, supporting refugees, providing health promotion and training, child sponsorship, and providing routes out of poverty for the poor, displaced and most disadvantaged - please take the time to read more about them, and Charlene's incredible dream, at https://charlenesproject.org/

Running continuously for half an hour wasn't something I ever thought I'd be fit enough for, let alone attempting to run a marathon. But here we are - following some lifestyle changes during the pandemic, I've found myself having made the somewhat mad decision to attempt the Belfast marathon. And anything you are generously able to donate, Charlene's Project will put straight into helping wherever they can - whether funding education, supporting a health centre, or something else that benefits the entire community in the places they work.
