Philip Leavy
Donation protected
Phil Leavy, a 30 year old, travelled to Orange County, CA from Kildare, Ireland, looking forward to visiting a friend. His vacation was suddenly ended on February 1, when he was struck by a car, while crossing, legally, near South Coast Plaza. He suffered a life threatening, traumatic head injury, requiring emergency brain surgery, to remove part of his skull, in an effort to save his life. For two weeks he was in a coma and hospitalized for a month.
The driver was cited. She carried the minimum amount of liability which was liened for the medical bills. Phil received nothing for all his pain and suffering.
If there was any Luck of the Irish, in this disaster, Phil had travelers insurance, which paid for the initial hospital bills. It was not medically possible for Phil to fly home because of the fluid on the brain and missing skull, which would need another surgery. His insurance did not cover any living expenses and his friends have tried to supply his needs. He now needs a second medical opinion and living expenses for the next 6-8 weeks, which includes recovery from a second surgery, to repair the flap and re-insert skull piece.
Phil desperately wants to go home to Ireland but is
STRANDED in America. We are asking for donations to pay for a second opinion and living expenses, during
the next 6-8 weeks of recovery, after the second brain surgery.
Can we show this young man, America wants to make him whole and send him home to his family, in Ireland?
