Remembering Philip Pascall – support for education in Africa

Following the recent passing of Philip Pascall, co-founder of First Quantum Minerals, many people who have worked with him and the company have asked how they can make a donation to recognise his positive impact on their life or business.

Philip recently established a charitable trust in his name to support educational initiatives in Africa, particularly Zambia called the Philip Pascall Education Trust (“PPET”). As those who knew Philip will appreciate - his connections, knowledge and love for Zambia and its neighbouring nations ran deep. Through his own efforts and via First Quantum Minerals, Philip’s life work has not only made a difference to the mining sector, but to the educational opportunities available in all those communities associated with the operations that he was fundamental in establishing.

The PPET will carry on that deeply held interest with the vision of supporting excellent education for selected primary, secondary and tertiary students who may otherwise miss out on access to educational opportunities that can make a difference to their lives and communities.

Purpose of PPET as described in trust documents is "PPET will support the excellent education of selected primary, secondary and tertiary students who would not otherwise have access to such education. My wish is that this support should initially be via funding of the Educore group’s operations in Zambia, but that this could be extended to other charitable organisations and countries as PPET Trustees see fit."

As the PPET was not fully functioning when Philip passed, this Go Fund me page has been set up specifically to enable people to make a donation with the intention that the money collected will then be transferred into the education fund when it has been fully established. If for any reason, the Philip Pascall Education Trust is not fully operating within twelve months of Philip’s passing then any monies from this Go Fund Me page will be donated to Anglicare, another important charitable cause that Philip had a strong connection with.
