Hi, my name is Jessica Perez-Tate, and I am raising funds for my brother, Phil Perez's, funeral service being held this Saturday, April 1, 2023...
On Monday, March 27, 2023, at around 1 AM, Phil came home from work and complained to his wife Angie about a burning headache. Within an hour, Angie called 911 because Phil had fallen unconscious. He was intubated at home and rushed to the hospital in Jersey City where the family all joined together to give support. By 3 AM, we were notified that Phil had suffered from a ruptured aneurysm with severe bleeding in his brain and it was too late for surgical intervention. He was showing no signs of life and was placed on full life support. At around 4:30 AM, Angie, Eddie Jr (Phil's brother), Elliot (Phil's brother), PJ (Phil's son), Ciarra (Phil's daughter), Kristina (Phil's daughter), and Mario (Phil's son) were asked to make a difficult decision. Phil's heart rate was dropping from the 80s down to the 70s, and the nurse was using external measures to keep his body warm. Phil was dying and the medical staff wanted the family to decide whether or not to keep using life-sustaining measures. It was decided that he would be resuscitated one time to allow the family an opportunity to say their goodbyes, but that was all. Phil did not want his life to be prolonged by being hooked up to "tubes", and wished to be allowed to die in peace. With sadness in their hearts, the family prepared themselves to let go of someone so loved and precious to them. In a noble action, the family also agreed to donate Phil's organs to save the lives of those in need. We were told that he would become a hero. On the morning of Wednesday, March 29th, Phil's wife and kids, including Phil's father, Edelio, titi Carmen, as well as his nieces and nephew, circled him to say prayers, to hold and hug him one last time...
Phil was a family man and a hard worker. He LOVED his family, no matter what. He spent over 27 years with his wife Angie and helped raise 3 beautiful kids. He cared for everyone and always asked for whoever was missing from a family function. Phil would crack jokes during parties and was a friendly person all around. And it was not uncommon for the older brothers to get together in a bro-hug during family functions. Everyone was used to Phil lending a hand whenever he could. It came with the territory of knowing him. He wanted everyone to be okay. To those who knew and loved him, he was already a hero.
There isn't enough time and space to show how much he meant to his loved ones. The heartbreak and loss will last a lifetime. In the spirit of who Phil was, a giving person, we ask for support from family and friends to help with the funeral service cost. We will meet this Saturday, April 1st, in love and support for each other. We welcome all the love and support that can be afforded.
