Philip W. Toh Memorial Fund
My brother, Philip William Toh, left this world way too soon on May 30, 2021.
We are deeply touched by the outpouring of condolences and sharing your beautiful memories of Phil.
Phil had recently completed his master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Health and Science and stayed on as a Teaching Assistant as he considered the next steps in his career in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
While most people remained in quarantine for the past year during the height of the pandemic, my brother put on his mask and took to the streets to lend his voice, heart, time and physical presence to the causes that called to him. He attended peaceful protests for Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate.
He was one of the first volunteers for Protect Chinatown, a nonprofit supporting the Asian American community by offering chaperones to the elderly. I didn’t know he did that until after he passed because Phil never publicized his activism or his volunteer work. He just did it because he thought it was the right thing to do. No hashtags or instagram and self-promotion.
To honor my brother, all donations will be going towards the following organizations related to the causes that he cared about including in no particular order:
- Protect Chinatown (https://www.gofundme.com/f/protect-chinatown)
- MBR No Justice No Peace (https://www.mbrcycling.org/the-mbr-story)
- CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities (https://caaav.org/)
A portion of these proceeds and the Toh Family will also be contributing towards the following:
- Asian Mental Health Collective (https://www.asianmhc.org/)
- "Phil Toh Student Emergency Fund" at Phil's school, Pacific College of Health and Science
