Philippines Covid-19 Mutual Aid Fundraiser
Many communities in the Philippines have been affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
With strict quarantine orders, people have no work, income or means to support themselves. They have no food or secure accommodation to self isolate in.
Rather than supplementing wages or providing welfare for people, the government in the Philippines has sent thousands of military and police to enforce this quarantine. They have been authorised to arrest and even to shoot to kill people who are out on the streets. The homeless and those without enough money to stockpile food will be most at risk during this time. State force isn’t the answer to keeping starving people in quarantine, or homeless people off the street. This is why mutual aid is crucial.
Any funds will go direct to Mutual Aid networks in different areas around the Philippines, who have community initiatives in place for distributing food, community meals, sanitation, hygiene supplies, medicine, health care, information materials, etc
Mass testing! Not Mass shooting!
Who receives the funds raised?
100% of all funds raised will be transferred directly to the people initiating projects for community.
For security and safety reasons we cannot give identities of people receiving the mutual aid. Please get in touch if you have any questions relating to the fundraiser.
An example of how far your money will go;
10kg of rice is around $15AUD.
Any support will reach many affected communities and be a big help. This fundraiser will go for 2 weeks only and money will be sent at the end ASAP.
Who are we?
Alycia Bennett and Amanda Morony are individuals from Adelaide, Australia, whom are part of many DIY communities locally as well as in Philippines.
We have spent the last few years traveling back and forward to Philippines and connected with many networks and individuals facilitating community based initiatives.
We want to help raise funds for friends in Philippines, for them to continue the projects they are running for people effected by the Covid-19 crisis.
Thank you for your support <3
