Dear friends and family, it is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of beloved husband, son, father, and friend, Phillip Ray Merrill.

Phillip passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago in a tragic cycling accident in Hong Kong. He was doing what he loved, out on a long bike ride, when he was involved in a severe traffic accident. After 5 days in critical condition at the ICU, 5 surgeries, and a Herculean effort by both Phillip and his medical team, he passed to his heavenly home on July 26, 2023 surround by his family and loved ones. Phillip was a devoted husband to Lauri, his wife and lifelong partner of 31 years, and a loving father and grandfather to his 3 children and 2 grandchildren. He was known for his passion for life and witty sense of humor (despite the fact that he never repeated his jokes.)

Phillip and Lauri moved to Hong Kong in January of this year for a 3 year placement with Phillip’s work at Swire Coca-Cola. This distance has caused many challenges during this time of loss. To help lift the family’s emotional and financial burden we are holding this fundraiser for Phillip’s funeral. Please consider giving, even if it’s just prayers for the Merrill family at this time.
