The Philadelphia Performing Artists' Emergency Fund was created amid the COVID-19 outbreak to assist performing artists whose income has been impacted by show cancellations, slowing ticket sales, and/or low turnout during this pandemic. We are coming together as a community to lift each other up, and ensure we all make it through this together. Emergency Funds can be requested by any Cabaret, Drag, Burlesque, Theater, or performance artists facing a financial hardship caused by COVID-19. Performance artists who need aid can apply here: https://forms.gle/SwsMERPM1CTivFyc7
The cabaret and theater scenes in Philadelphia are diverse and vibrant safe spaces for many people in marginalized groups, and with the cancellation of public gatherings, our industry will be hit hard. Many performance artists rely on these public performances to pay their bills, and many have day jobs in the service industry, which has also been hit hard by the outbreak. Your donations can safeguard performers’ ability to pay their rent, buy groceries, and ensure they have lifesaving medications. So we encourage you to donate, even if it’s only $1. Every little bit helps!
Thank you,
Beary Tyler Moore
Icon Ebony Fierce
Patti Lustoned
EDIT:
Go Fund Me wants more information before we can receive funds! Here's some info for you.
-Who you are and where you’re from?
We are all multidisciplinary performers in the Philadelphia area. Beary and Patti work during the day in higher education. Icon is a full time performer. We all currently live in Philadelphia. We are all queer.
-Your relationship or contact to the intended recipients of your campaign’s donations?
We are collecting names of people who also work in performance related fields in Philadelphia. We are internally reviewing each application and giving money to those who meet the guidelines. We have already helped 25 people (as of 3/19/2020) through the kindness of venmo and cashapp donations. Many of these people applying are people we know from the drag/burlesque community, while others are people who found out about this fundraiser and applied for assistance.
-A clear explanation of how the donations will be spent:
Each dollar will go to helping an artist or someone working in the arts with paying their bills, paying for necessary medications and buying groceries.
-Your plan to get the campaign’s donations to the intended recipient(s):
In our form we ask for people's preferred method of delivery. We can provide funds through venmo, cashapp or PayPal. We have already helped 25 individuals (as of 3/19/2020) and look forward to helping more people.
EDIT:
Taylor Plunkett-Clements/Patti LuStoned will be solely responsible for withdrawing the funds from the GoFundMe campaign into her personal bank account. From there, she and Beary Tyler Moore and Icon Ebony Fierce are working together to distribute the funds. We are organizing this with google drive tools like the forms and spreadsheets, and everything is being documented.
