Phil’s unfortunate break

Donation protected
Phil came to Minneapolis with his wonderful girlfriend Anissa on Tuesday May 28th to catch an early flight Wednesday morning to visit family in Fort Collins on a much needed vacation.  After some convincing we talked him into subbing for a player on our men’s softball team in St. Louis Park.  Early on in the second game of our double header, to which Phil had already made some fantastic plays, a little blooper was hit over 2nd base.  Phil turned to run down the ball as our outfield also closed in on it.  That’s when it all happened.   Phil dove as Chris, our outfield, slid.  They both collided leaving them in a heap of pain.  Chris ended up with a handful of stitches around his eye and Phil was left with a severely broken jaw in two spot.  Not knowing the extent of the injury at the time Phil took some Advil and iced his jaw thinking it was just swollen and boarded his plane the next morning.  Two days after being in Colorado the pain intensified and Phil was having trouble breathing.   That’s when he went to the hospital in Loveland, Colorado.  Doctors were amazed that he tried to tough it out as long as he did after what the X-ray revealed.  Phil was rushed into surgery spending 3 days of his trip in a hospital bed with his jaw wired shut.   To make matters worse, Phil was uninsured, unable to eat and stuck with a mountain of medical bills.  We are reaching out to the community for support In helping Phil get back on his feet and out from under some of these immense bills.   Anything helps and we appreciate you taking your time to view and support Phil’s recovery efforts.
