I’ll be celebrating my Bat Mitzvah this summer, and as a part of becoming a Jewish adult, I’m doing a big volunteer project to raise money and awareness for families seeking asylum that are stuck waiting at the border. To do that overall, over the past few months, I’ve taken on projects to raise money like baking cookies and holding a kids’ day out at my house. Some of you have already supported this cause by buying cookies or letting me take care of your kids - thank you!
Over spring break, I was planning to go down to Brownsville, a town right on the border between America and Mexico, to volunteer with Team Brownsville, an organization that is dedicated to helping out this cause. My family and I would have helped to prepare meals, assemble kits that will go with people when they board Greyhound buses, and cross the border into Matamoros to deliver those meals that the volunteers and I would have made.
Unfortunately, my big plans were cut short due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Everything was canceled the week prior to our planned week in Brownsville. Now, more than ever before, Team Brownsville needs extra funds to help get everything done because no volunteers are permitted so as to slow the spread.
I'm raising money now to pay for the meals that volunteers like myself and my family would usually prepare. The full cost of one dinner for all the people living in tents at the border is $1900. If you’d like to support my cause, you can do that by donating money here.
I hope you can help me and my volunteer work. Thank you so much!

Since that time, our membership and our mission has expanded with the help of volunteers and donors from around the globe.
