Piano moving cross country

Hello, y’all! Jorge Martin here. In case you don’t know me (what?!) I’m a composer. I’ve been playing the piano since I was 4, and I’ve lived in Vermont for 28 years. That makes me 32 years old. Not. At not quite twice that age I’m moving from my beloved Middlebury, Vermont, embarking on a new chapter in El Paso, Texas. This move has mostly to do with finances and affordability, sad to say, but I’m very excited about taking this big step. BIG, however, is an understatement for the costs of a long-distance move! When I got quotes for moving my piano ALONE, (a Steinway B we bought in 1995, right after moving to Vermont) my head swirled. The cost of moving it is $6995! This made my heart sink. I’m hoping if enough of my friends and family chip in, I can defray this massive cost, at least enough to make it manageable. I will need to get the piano out by end of June. These same piano movers, based in Vermont and highly recommended, have moved this piano locally three times already! As you all can imagine, this instrument is “my baby,” dear to me, the piano in which I’ve written most of my mature and best works (including The Glass Hammer, Before Night Falls, the El Paso Requiem, and others). It will mean the world to me if you can chip in; to have my friends and fans be a part of the story of this piano is a boon I will be grateful for and cherish all my days. And I will always be in touch! Thank you!
