Pick 6 Fall Sports Kick-Off Raffle!
Donation protected
Greetings,
I pray all is well and God continues to bless you and your heart of generosity. I am Korrin Wiggins and on behalf of the CAMP and Forgiven Sons, Inc. we thank you in advance for your sentiment. As you feel led, we invite you to join our fall sports Great Commission efforts by contributing to our inaugural “Pick 6” high school fall sports raffle!
Being that the majority of our leadership team has played football, we have a lot of love for the sport. In the spirit of football, during every fall sports season, we will randomly select 6 public high school - ( 1st year beginning locally in Durham, NC) sports programs to sow a financial seed into. As a ministry our seed will contribute directly to each of the selected sports programs procurement budget for that season.
What’s the goal?
Our goal is to build a fund that supports local high school athletics programs. From experience, I was personally exposed to the reality that high school institutions don’t have a lot of funding to support their specific athletic programs. Majority of the time, funding for the program falls on the shoulders of the team’s parents, players, and coaches. Often, they are required to individually fundraise, rather than having a budget for the athletic department as a whole.
Without having a staff to focus on athletic fundraising, budgeting, and resources, institutions, at times, must heavily rely on outside resources. Often, they must depend on alumni or parents to form a booster club, which is formulated by working class citizens who operate solely on a volunteer basis. These individuals, understandably, may not have the time or resources necessary to create and operate a sustainable, effective, and lucrative booster club.
With districts seeking to improve funding efforts toward the salaries of administrators and bus drivers, as well as reduced school meals and other in-classroom resources (ie. books, calculators, etc.), this issue, unfortunately, does not appear to be resolving any time soon. As a result, funding for the athletic departments have to take a back seat in order to prioritize these previously mentioned factors.
Though this is an understandable compromise, we recognize that this is still an issue. Sports have proven to be a pillar in the foundation of teaching many young students and professional adults valuable life lessons such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. These lessons are necessary not only on the playing field, but in the realms of academic professional development, as well.
We believe that institutions with athletic departments deserve to have access to the funding and resources necessary to cultivate a healthy and enjoyable environment. No player, coach, or team should be put at a disadvantage due to limited resources.
This is one of the many reasons why this “Pick 6” fall sports initiative was developed and our ministry as a whole exists.
If you feel led, please join us in our mission by sowing into this initiative or our ministry as a whole at:
https://www.forgivensons.org/donate You may set up a recurring donation, if your heart desires to support our mission regularly as well.
Again, we thank the Lord in advance for your generosity! We believe that together, we will ensure that no individual athlete or high school sports program in the state of North Carolina, or across the entire country, will lack access to the resources that they need to participate and succeed in their competitive activities!
God bless,
