Pickle the Pocket Pitbull and her moms

Pickle is the sweetest pitbull I have ever met. And I have met a lot of them. Anytime I am at her home, she cuddles next to me and I give her scratches. She bring her moms so much joy and laughter. As I'm sitting here writing this, Kara and Jennifer are going through photos of Pickle, reliving their 7 years together. They're laughing at the memories, which is a wonderful sound to hear. Because in the last 72 hours, there have been mostly tears. They adopted her when she was a tiny little potatoe and they've grown as a family together ever since. Kara, Jennifer and Pickle. They're the perfect trifecta.
On Friday the 1st of July, Pickle's mom Kara noticed that she wasn't behaving normally. In the time span of a day, Pickle was unable to move without whimpering and writhing in pain. Since the pain started on a holiday weekend, the only option was to take Pickle to the emergency vet. They ran the tests and x-rays and were told that everything looked normal. The emergency vet mentioned that it could be "a little gas." Stating that there was nothing else they could do, they sent Pickle home with pain meds and told Kara and Jennifer to monitor her until after the 4th of July.
On Sunday, Pickle's pain wasn't manageable even on the most powerful dosage of pain pills. Her moms knew it wasn't just "a little gas." They couldn't move her without her writhing and wimpering. She could no longer use the bathroom and was no longer eating. Her moms knew she needed help faster than Tuesday, so on Monday the 4th of July they took her to Animal Emergency and Referral Center. A highly recommended Animal Hospital in Oakdale.
They took x-rays and found a possible issue in Pickle's discs in between vertebrae 1 and 2. Pickle is scheduled for an MRI to determine if the spinal issue can be fixed with surgery or if it's cancer.
Kara and Jennifer made the decision to move forward with the MRI testing because if there's any chance that Pickle can be saved and have a happy and painless future with them, then it will have been worth it. The initial deposit was $5,493 which was covered by a line of credit. The high end estimate for everything is $13,000. We are hoping it will not end up being that high.
This GoFundMe is an opportunity to help them cover the costs of the credit debt for the deposit, hospitalization, tests, MRI, and the surgery. If it is cancer, we will cross that bridge. For now, we are holding on to hope that surgery will save Pickle.
Pets are family, and we would do anything to make sure they are healthy and safe.
Thank you so much. Kara and Jennifer are exhausted, but I know they're thankful for their community. Pickle thanks you too and she would probably give you a little bork, then a sniff, then a little lick on your hand if you wanted. She's a good dog.
