Pickleball at Heilmann County Park, Atascadero

(This was the first fundraiser. As of 2-25-25 we raised $2,520 here, but will now close this GoFundMe for donations and use the newer one “Support Heilmann Park Dedicated Pickleball Courts”.). We have been working with the county since summer 2022, to make pickleball available on one of the six tennis courts at Heilmann County Park in Atascadero. Over eight months, an on site survey counted tennis players using the six courts, averaging 5.5 tennis players per day. The county approved our using "shadow lines" on one tennis court (pickleball court lines over the existing tennis court lines) to gauge the usage by pickleball players. We will have four courts, using portable nets. If we have a positive attendance, we will then plan with the county to do a permanent conversion of one tennis court to four permanent pickleball courts. We have a contact list of over 100 pickleball players, who will have anytime access to the portable nets.

This fundraising is to purchase a 48" metal job box ($531.79 w/tax); three combination locks and a cable ($92.94 w/tax); 12 X40 balls (~$30); four rolls of court line tape ($126.43 w/tax); tape rollers ($14.78 w/tax). The remainder of money (about $205) will be for future re-taping and miscellaneous expenses. All purchase receipts will be either shown here or emailed to our list of contacts.

We have four sets of portable nets that have been loaned to us by local pickleball players, which saves us over $500.

We inaugurated the courts on November 3, 2023, with 19 players in the morning. One item we realized we will need is a leaf blower. I bumped up our goal to cover that cost ($162 w/tax). We will have a few bucks left for minor needs.
