There is no work that is more important than the mental health and brain development of our children. My personal history makes this fundraiser meaningful to me. My name is Carter Blatt, at the age of 13 years old, I suffered my first major concussion. This pivotal moment, not only changed my perspective on life but also knocked me down into a world of uncertainty and challenges. Although this had not been my first concussion, this horrific event created extreme barriers, that seemed impossible to overcome. Simple daily tasks became monumental hurdles. Throughout my year-long recovery, I learned an immense amount about myself and the mental strength it takes to overcome such obstacles. My journey to recovery, not only included mental health struggles from feeling socially isolated from my peers but also eroded my confidence in the classroom. If it were not for the care I was provided, I could not have overcome the challenges I faced. This organization aims to provide the care explained for children who face challenges similar to mine.

After several years of wanting to turn my pain into purpose, I finally started the Serve Wellness Foundation, actively partnering with the nationally renowned Child Mind Institute (CMI). CMI is the leading independent nonprofit organization in children’s mental health and learning disabilities. They operate under three Mission Areas which work together for the greatest impact- Care, Education, and Science. CMI is dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disabilities by assisting them with tools to help them thrive. Help me on my mission to create a community of acceptance and development.
