Pier 19 Employee Relief Fund!

On the early morning hours of February 23, 2022 an unfortunate incident occurred. Many of us woke up to watch with disbelief the news unfold of the immense fire that burned for an entire day that completely destroyed the Renowned Pier 19 in South Padre Island Texas. This would forever impact the lives of not only the devoted customers, but most importantly the dedicated, hardworking, amazing, loving, and caring employees!! 67 of them, and more than half had been there for over 10 years. We loved the way they greeted you by your name, making you feel so very special!!

The news traveled fast to many “Frequent” clients, from our locals, to all over the US, Mexico and beyond. The comments on social media where pouring in with everyone commenting on how they loved the place, the food and most of all, the employees. They are what made this entity successful. Everyone that came in for the first time, come back again, and again, and brought friends and family so that they could experience the warm friendly staff, and the “consistent” food the cooks prepared to perfection.

I am creating this Go-Fund me, because this was a very special place for me, and many caring and devoted customers have asked me what they can do to help these employees that were misplaced, and currently looking for work. Some have found part time jobs at other restaurants. But need help to make ends meet and now with the price of gas it is difficult for them to make the trip to work as most live out of the area. Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way. I have asked Ms. Janie Valdez, Pier 19 Gen. Manager (over 20 years) to oversee this fund raiser and to distribute accordingly to all the staff.
