Pierpont Community Council Seaward Public Art Project

The Bay Community Council has designed and developed many projects and events
over the recent few years. The "Seaward Beautification plan", implemented in 2016, continues today to shape our neighborhoods look, while preserving the "beach/ocean theme" we have all come to enjoy. Prior Pierpont Council projects include; the replanting of the center median on Seaward Street; the Pierpont Community sign welcoming residents and guests; the "light up Seaward" project giving Seaward Street improved lighting and a cool nighttime look; the holiday decorations along Seaward Street; new community oriented flags flying above Seaward Street; and the purchasing and installing of holiday flags, just to name a few. Much of the money for these projects came from private donations, a "Go-Fundme" campaign, and the City of Ventura's "Measure O" money.

The Pierpont Bay Community Council has started phase 3 of its Seaward Beautification project. It involves the installation of beach/ocean themed ceramic artwork on Seaward. The first installation will include the remodeling of 4 City trash receptacles located near the restrooms at the end of Seaward Street. (See before vs. after photos).

The City of Ventura has been very helpful with this project and will be helping to identify the local ceramic artist to complete this iob as well as any compliance oriented issues with the City of Ventura. A "Call to Artists" (request for proposal) has been sent out by the City of Ventura to local artists for their proposal having already been given color themes, dimensions etc.. We are expecting artist renderings within the next 30 days.

Here's where you can help our community. Each trash receptacle will cost approximately $2,500-$3,000. You can sponsor an entire trash receptacle or divide up the cost with a friend or neighbor. The goal is to raise a minimum of $12,000. All monies are paid to the Pierpont Bay Community Council which will work with the City of Ventura to pay the artists.

Improving the look of Seaward Street is not a city council goal, they have bigger issues to deal with. It is therefore incumbent upon us as citizens and locals to contribute what we can towards making Seaward Street the best it can be. Please help us.
