Help Cameron Represent Team GB at the World Cup, Brisbane

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Cameron, a 14-year-old roller derby skater from Edinburgh, and I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to represent Team Great Britain in the 2025 Junior Roller Derby World Cup, taking place in Brisbane, Australia! As one of only two players selected from Scotland, this is a dream come true for me, but I need your support to make it happen.

I've been passionate about roller derby for five years now, playing for the Northern Champions, Demonburgh Junior Roller Derby SCIO. This fast-paced, exciting sport has not only taught me skills on the track but has also shaped my confidence, discipline, and teamwork. Being part of Team GB means intense monthly training sessions with athletes from across the UK, and it's been an amazing challenge that pushes me to grow every time I put my skates on.

In addition to training, I’ve also started volunteering as a coach for rookie skaters in my club, which has been so rewarding. Teaching others the skills I've learned makes me even more motivated to keep improving and give back to the roller derby community.

Heading to Australia for the World Cup in 2025 will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, where I'll get to compete against some of the best junior athletes from around the globe, represent my country, and immerse myself in the Aussie culture. It's also a stepping stone toward my future goal: competing in the 2027 World Cup, which will be hosted here in Scotland!

However, roller derby is still a growing sport, and all the costs—from training to travel and equipment—need to be self-funded. Between flights, accommodation, kit, and the necessary chaperone (my mum), costs are estimated at around £5-10k.

That’s where I need your help. Your support will not only help me reach Australia but also allow me to compete at my best. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to me and will bring me one step closer to my dream.

Thank you so much for considering supporting me on this incredible journey. Please don’t forget to tune in to the World Cup, where I’ll be proudly skating for Team GB and representing both Scotland and Great Britain!

Roller Derby
Roller derby is a fast paced, contact sport played on roller skates. There are five players per team on the track at one time; a Jammer, a Pivot and three Blockers. The jammer wears a star on their head and their goal is to score points by passing the opposing team’s pivot and three blockers. The pivot and blockers jobs are to stop the opposing teams’ jammer pass them, while also assisting their own jammer. The pivot wears a stripe on their head and is a replacement jammer. The game is played on an oval track with multiple skating referees and non skating officials.

Roller Derby value’s inclusivity and diversity. It is a place where people of all ages, genders and backgrounds can come together and compete in a supportive and empowering environment.
Many roller derby leagues are run by volunteers, focussing on building a community.
