Young Man Wants to Meet his Father

Donation protected
I have an amazing younger brother, his name is Max. For the most part he is just like every other 13 year old boy in America. He goes to school, watches movies, hangs out with his friends, plays video games. But there is something unique about him which unfortunately is all too common this day and age. He has a father who decided he didn't want to have any part of my brother's life. Overall he has come to terms with accepting this regretful truth. Progressing through life with the hopes his father was off doing something good for the world, anything to keep from believing his own dad didn't want him in his life. What makes this situation stand out is that his father won a parenting award. He proudly accepted this prestigious award publicly. Fully aware that he was not in fact the worthy of such an honor. My brother was searching for information about his father online one day & happened to come across that article. When he read through it something within him changed dramatically, as if the light that had always radiated about him became dimmed. The innocent boyhood smile he used to wear started to fade and turn bitter. His father spoke of his love for his other 2 children with such devotion & tenderness but never bothered to his firstborn, who had been living in America all along. You don't get to selectively choose which children are worthy of your love and which are not & expect to still be entitled to such a public honor with all the associated praise. His father runs a charity organization designed to assist fathers in their time of need. He makes radio & television appearances emphasizing how every moment you can spend with your children is precious. Yet this same charlatan hangs up on my brother whenever he's attempted to phone him, refuses to correspond via email or Skype, returns ever letter mailed unopened and essentially wants to pretend he does not exist. It's incredibly hurtful and has changed the disposition of my brother Max in ways that truly break my heart. I know Max is loved by our family but I cannot begin to imagine what such audacious and blatant rejections from his own flesh and blood are doing in the way of both emotional & psychological damage. My brother has a heart of gold and I want to see it shine once more. I've never been in his shoes as I lived with my Father growing up before he passed away. That was so essential to my life and as Max's older brother I want the chance to help he feel validated & vindicated from this label of irrelevance his father has bestowed upon him.  He thinks he will never be held to account as he is so far away. I want him to see his son, in person and look into the eyes of this boy whose heart he has broken. More importantly, I want Max to have the chance to show his father that he was the bigger person, willing to make whatever efforts necessary to make their meeting possible. Ideally, it would be great if he recognized how mistaken he has been these past 13 years, but I believe I'd like him to walk away knowing he tried and can decide for himself whether or not his father is not a person worth knowing. I think it would be worthwhile to have Max visit all the organizations that have hailed his father as this remarkable and praiseworthy father and show them that while he is basking in the glory they grant him this child is being repeatedly pained by his intentional dismissals. Join us on this journey and help my little brother and I fly across the world in search of something you cannot buy in a store. I am asking for only 9,000 dollars to make this trip happen. This would include; Plane Tickets, Housing, Transportation, Food, Camera Equipment, and any unused portions would go towards a college account for my little brother. All would be captured on film by myself and be released later in the year online. Anyone who donates even a dollar will have their name in the credits and the thank of our family for helping turn my little brother's wish into a reality.
