Pim Support Fund
Donation protected
On Friday August 9th, while out hiking, Dave Tan fell from a ridge and tragically died.
He left behind so many wonderful and cherished memories with friends all over the world, a family and a community in Squamish that will miss him beyond words, and his soulmate and wife, Pim.
Over the next weeks, months and years, Pim will need support to get back on her feet after this incredibly traumatic episode. If anyone feels they have capacity to contribute to this recovery, it would be so appreciated. This fund will likely be used to pay for:
- Counselling and therapy sessions
- Rent and bills
- Food and general living costs
- Travel costs for loved ones and for Pim
- Other emotional supports that Pim may need
When you lose someone as wonderful as Dave, you never really recover - it's just something you have to learn to live with and carry forward. It becomes part of you as you get back on your feet. The road back to financial independence might be a long one for Pim, so removing monetary stress is something that we can hopefully come together for.
There is a shared album that everyone is invited to. If you have any photos or videos of Dave, please add them. Pim has been loving seeing them and hearing stories about time spent with Dave. Alternatively, feel free to just browse and remember him.
The Search and Rescue teams were fantastic in their efforts to get the rest of the group off the mountain and to recover Dave's body. They do such an incredibly important job in our mountain community, with world class equipment/training, and with unending compassion. SAR groups operate based on donations and grants, so if you would like to contribute something to them, here are the relevant links:
- Whistler SAR (the team that responded on the day)
- Squamish SAR (our local team)
Thanks, love and hugs to all
xx
