Pippa and Teddy’s Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
My name is Kelly and I am hoping to raise some funds to support my precious doggies through their cancer treatment.

Pippa has been in our family since she was 8 weeks old - she is now 11. She has no idea she’s a dog and thinks she is a fluffy princess child (and is treated the same!)

Pip was diagnosed with cancer - specifically B-cell Lymphoma, in November 2024.

We met with our wonderful oncologist, Veronika, at SASH North Ryde to make a plan. She was given 4 weeks to live unless we commenced aggressive treatment in the form of chemotherapy and radiation immediately. The treatment could extend her life for 2 or more years. It was never a question for me, we were going to try everything in our power to help our baby girl.

Unfortunately the pet insurance we have didn’t cover any of her treatment and as of January 2025 we have already paid over $15,000 and we still have months of treatment to go.

The fantastic news is that the treatment is working and Pippa is in remission. The ongoing treatment is to ensure she remains in remission, as unfortunately 95% of the time, the cancer will come back.

While we were dealing with all of this, in December 2024, our other dog, Teddy, started to act a bit weird and would get disoriented and walk into walls.

We took him into SASH to see ophthalmologist, Dr Mark at SASH who confirmed he was totally blind but not really sure why. We opted to have an MRI (which cost $5000) to investigate why he had all of a sudden lost all of his vision. The results came back showing that Teddy has a 1.5cm brain tumour pressing on his optic nerve.

We have commenced treatment with steroids and cannabis oil in an attempt to reduce the tumour size and inflammation surrounding the optic nerve. So far with good results, Ted has some vision back and has been able to navigate without walking into anything for just over a week now!

If this treatment stops working, the next option would be a large surgery to remove his left eye completely and as much of the tumour as safely possible.

Ted came into our lives 3 years ago at 8 years old after we saw him advertised as free to good home on Facebook. He spent most of his life outside alone and would frequently escape and end up at the pound.

He is the sweetest little boy who just wants love and cuddles constantly. He deserves many more years of love and happiness and we will do everything we can to provide that for him.

How can you help? We would be so appreciative of you could spare a few dollars to help us with the pups medical bills. If many people give a little, it ends up being a lot and would make a huge difference to our lives.

If you aren’t in a position to donate, sharing this cause would also be incredibly helpful.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ♥️ these dogs are my life and I appreciate any and all support xx
