Pippin needs help

Donation protected
UPDATE: Pippin is recovering. Thank you for those of you who donated (myself included). We were only able to raise around $350. His other dog Faith is struggling as well. He has taken them to the vet for treatment and meds. He also needs to get his dogs into snake avoidance training in the spring. If you can please help him with the on-going treatment. His update and the donation info is below.

From Joseph: Pippin is getting better. The vet said that I could discontinue the Gabapentin, Amoxicillin, and Carprofen because his swelling is gone except for his muzzle. The next hurdle is having the wounds on his muzzle and rear leg heal. There's a danger that the main scab may come off, and he'll have an open wound there requiring stitches. Also, he started chewing on his back leg due to the stress. I received some Silver Sulfadazine cream to spread on his wounds and a dog collar to keep him from licking them. He is on the road to a full recovery. I am very grateful for all your support.

Hello all.
I am helping friend and neighbor, Joseph Spring, find donations for his dog Pippin who was bit multiple times by a large rattlesnake. He wasn’t able to get him to the vet for the antivenom as his other dog was bitten and he is still recovering from a $5,500 vet bill. Pippen needs to be seen by a vet ASAP. And if you have any amoxicillin to donate reply to me here. I gave him all I had and it wasn’t enough. Please help Pippen get to a vet and donate here:

His gut wrenching story is below~

How Pippin was bitten.

We found Pippin curled up in a pit that he had dug at the base of the entry stairs around 1 PM on Sunday. We didn’t recognize him at first because of the swelling. I brought him in the house right away and found his sister Faith, and brought her in as well. There was so much blood and swelling on his snout that it looked as if he had been in a dogfight, but we did not hear any commotion. It appears that he was fighting with the snake around rocks or a fence because of the multiple puncture wounds on his face. We had seen him about an hour before and he was his normal self.

I brought some bedding in for him to be in the living room and then went out and checked the dog run and other areas close to house for the snake. I did not see any signs of a snake. I believe that he may have been checking out gopher holes around the house and the snake may have been laying in wait. We have cleaned his wounds regularly and applied triple antibiotic ointment, but some wounds are continuing to bleed.

I am asking for donations for Pippin’s care because I am near the end of my financial rope. I am self-employed and contracted Covid in December 2022 expecting to be out of commission for a month. Unfortunately, the virus gave me a lasting case of Chilblains and Reynaud’s syndrome keeping me from work. I still cannot fit into my shoes due to the swelling
and have to be careful about being in air or touching water that is less than 60°F. There are other issues too and I am actively trying to find answers and a cure or cures through multiple doctors in the Kaiser HMO system. I have exhausted my savings to stay afloat during this crisis and am hoping that the doctors will find a solution soon.
Cordially,
Joseph Spring
