Help Pixie Overcome Founder – Urgent Care & Recovery Support Needed

Pixie, a sweet and beloved 7-year-old Gypsy Vanner, is in urgent need of medical care for laminitis (founder). Without immediate intervention, she faces long-term pain and the risk of permanent damage.

Why Pixie Needs Your Help

Pixie had been on the road to recovery, but unfortunately, her current farrier care has not been properly correcting her condition. She now requires a new farrier who can properly block her up for correct stance, apply corrective shoeing, and trim her hooves appropriately to relieve pain and prevent further damage. Without immediate intervention, her condition will continue to decline, making this an urgent need.

Her recovery also requires X-rays, diagnostic testing, veterinary treatment, and specialized farrier care. The X-rays alone cost $250, but ongoing medical care and corrective shoeing will be much more.

In addition, Pixie needs a mud-free turnout area to prevent further strain on her hooves. This involves installing road cloth and gravel to create a solid, dry surface for her healing process. Her run had gotten flooded out this year and lost most of its aggregate to sustain a clean short run. Luckily, her long paddock is mud-free and will be able to be used for managed grazing, but we'd like to repair her short run where she spends a portion of her day outside of her groundwork and grazing.

Her owners, who love her dearly, have recently been forced into retirement and disability. While they can afford her regular upkeep, this unexpected medical crisis is beyond their means right now. Pixie also has a dedicated lease rider who works with her regularly, but they, too, are unable to cover these sudden costs.

That’s why we’re reaching out to you—the community of horse lovers, friends, and kind-hearted people—to help Pixie get the care she urgently needs.
