Kids of San Carlos, Philippines

A really good friend of ours will be heading back to the Philippines on April 15th to be with his family and would like to support him in helping the kids of San Carlos City.
Well I am back off to Philippines soon, and I can't wait to see my family. Going to Philippines is an amazing experience, and I highly encourage everyone to go. English is mostly understood and everything there is inexpensive. The spirit of Filipino's has been the most amazing and captivating thing I have experienced in my whole life, but there is one thing that has hit me hard everytime, and that is the poverty. It is abundant and it is not like we know it here in the US. I am not talking about poverty in the sense of someone holding a homeless sign with a cup of Starbucks at their feet. I am talking about kids with no clothes and no food. I am talking about people that truly need (and value) your help. My last trip I will never forget the amazement I felt when I handed some kids 10 peso's each (that is one quarter USD). Half of what most of us would spend on our kids for a gumball at the grocery store. Those 10 peso's meant that they could eat, and the looks on their faces were priceless. The people of San Carlos City are good people, and I am proud that my daughter and family are from there.
I have decided to set up a account and ask my friends to give a little. It honestly does not matter if it is $5 or $20. What matters is it will be is something you won't miss and kindness that someone else will not forget. I will then take the money in that account and use it to provide some essentials for those in need in San Carlos City when I am there in April. I will of course keep everyone updated on how much I get and where the money goes, even if it is just the $20 I put in tonight. What we think would be an impossible and painful way of life is common place there yes, but another thing that is common place there is smiles, love, appreciation and laughter. That was the most shocking and foreign (pun intended) to me.I leave on April 9th. If you are friends with me you will see more posts like this until I leave. When you give to an organization you are giving money to support the organization, advertising, and everything else. Whatever you entrust me to take there on your behalf will be 100% directly given to people who need it more than we can comprehend. If you would like to give a little something (seriously anything helps).
We will be giving sandals, clothes, toys and most importantly food to kids and others that need it in San Carlos City and I am now also hoping in Cebu. So I will keep posting and tagging those I can here because it is important to see that good that comes out of kindness.
We are teaming up with the Department of Social Welfare and Development San Carlos City, Negros and having an event at there office. They have about 80 homeless street kids there we will be providing sandals, bookbags with school supplies, clothes and food for on April 15th. Jolliebee San Carlos City, Negros will be helping out too providing entertainment and games for the kids.
So please keep helping as I am counting on everyone to keep this going so we can make this an amazing day from our amazing circle of friends and family. I am so grateful for everything we have done and excited to keep this going until I leave on April 15.
