A Parent's Worst Nightmare

Just 3 days after Christmas 2018, Daryl and Kassa experienced a parent’s worst nightmare. As Daryl took his oldest of 3 children to the WWE Holiday Tour at Royal Farms Arena, while waiting for a friend who was going to join them, he and his son were innocent victims of the escalating gun violence in Washington, DC https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/when-is-it-going-to-stop-a-rise-in-homicides-in-the-district-brings-grief-and-frustration/2018/05/29/21bb5960-59d0-11e8-b656-a5f8c2a9295d_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.53a885e8caf4. In the blink of an eye, their lives were changed drastically as their son, a straight A student who is one of the sweetest kids you’ll ever meet, was left in a fight for his life after undergoing two life-saving surgeries. One surgery involved the removal of a portion of his skull to decrease the pressure on his brain. Kassa, a stay-at-home mother of a 7 month old, and Daryl had to explain to their adoring 6 year old son why his brother is not able to come home right now. Daryl, the only source of income for the family, was left without the ability to use his arm for at least 4 months as he recovers from extensive surgery on his hand.
This means the family now has no source of income until short-term disability is approved. They also will not receive help from the city until the freeze on Victims of Violence Lost Wages Assistance Program is lifted after the government shut down ends. Unfortunately, their monthly bills and mounting medical expenses are not able to wait until then. Even when approved, disability payments will not be 100% of his income. They need your help immediately. Please consider giving (any amount is greatly appreciated!) and keep the family in your prayers as they continue their long road to healing.
