Plastic Pollution Recycled into School Supplies

Donation protected
According to UNESCO, 48 million pounds of plastic enters the ocean every single day. In 2022, GREENPEACE reported that the United States of America only recycled about 6% of plastic.

The word recycle has many definitions. The definition we believe is most important is: To take waste material and turn it into something new. Part of the problem with plastic recycling is - many recycling centers have never actually 'recycled' plastic into anything. Plastic is mostly treated as a scrap commodity. If nobody wants to buy it, it gets sent to the landfill.

We think there should be a recycling center in every town. This would allow people to recycle plastic into something they want.

Currently make small handmade items such as necklaces, key chains and guitar picks. We have made larger items such as plant pots however it takes a very long time to create a plant pot by hand. Once we have better equipment we will be able to make 25 plant pots in an hour instead of 1 in 4 hours.

Our mission is to prevent plastic from polluting our environment while providing free school supplies to students. We have made 1 ruler as a prototype - seen in the picture.

The red in the ruler comes from a Folgers coffee container, the orange is Gatorade caps, there are 2 shades of yellow, the darker is from a Pennzoil container I found in a field in Scranton, Pa, the other yellow comes from a Prestone antifreeze container, the green is Gain laundry detergent, the blue is Downy fabric softener, the pink is from a shampoo bottle and the purple is a conditioner bottle.

Our vision is to have a system setup that recycles plastic from schools into free school supplies for students such as sets of the alphabet, plant pots, rulers and other useful tools. We deserve a clean environment where every child has the basic tools they need to succeed.

Our company is funded from the sale of our products. Currently we make small handmade items such as necklaces, key chains, ornaments and guitar picks to name a few. However we are constantly in product development so we can bring useful products to market created from recycled plastic, such as knobs for a cabinet, 2X4s and bricks.
