Plea To Help Asma Olwan’s Family in Canada & Gaza

I'm Asmaa Olwan, a Palestinian-Canadian who has lived in Canada for more than 23 years. I have been working in the Canadian education system and have contributed significantly to helping and assisting Canadian kids in this area.

Since you are aware of the unprecedented humanitarian situation in Gaza, I am pleading you to help my families that are stuck there with their kids. My elderly mother, nine of my siblings and their families including young children and babies trapped. They have experienced starvation, a lack of clean water, light, and internet, as well as inadequate medical treatment. They have lost everything they possess, seen death and destruction all around them, and heard bombs explode nonstop, day and night. They have also been subjected to white phosphorous being dropped on them. There is very little that aid organizations can do to help them throughout this winter.

The Canadian government granted our request to help our families cross into Egypt and then come to Canada, but the problem is that they would not cover the costs associated with them, so we would have to pay for all the related expenses. The feeling of powerlessness overwhelms me since I am unable to provide the money required for a large family. I cannot abandon my siblings or children since they are equally important to me. It means that my family will have to pay all the travel expenses, in addition to the settlement in Canada on their own.

The assistance I require is to cover the expenses for the application fee, cost of airline $1200 per person from Cairo to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and initial settlement in Canada. The details can be found in the link below.

I would appreciate it if the community could assist me in this cause in getting them here. The idea of losing any of them at any moment is my biggest nightmare right now, and it makes me feel worse. Due to the significant difficulty in communication, I am unaware of the food and drink situation or even if my elderly mother has taken her medication.
