Hello Friends,
This is Charlie. He is an 8-9 year-old sweet little Lab/Beagle/Chihuahau/Basset Hound/Corgi boy who has lost his person, and he is in desperate need of critical medical care. My Auntie Pat passed away on March 9, after battling a long and painful illness. This has been a very difficult time for my family and to make matters worse, her poor Charlie is suffering.
Charlie is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever known. He is a quiet, calm, undemanding little gentleman. He is easy to please, and is a very old soul. We initially took Charlie into our family in Sooke, BC with the hopes of being able to provide a home for him knowing my aunt wouldn't be with us for much longer. We desperately want to keep him to ease the burden on my cousin while she is grieving the loss of her mother, but my other dog has been very stressed since his arrival. This was meant to be a trial run, but he is so incredible that we have become deeply attached to him in a very short amount of time. We're not entirely sure of his breed, but we do know he is a charming little pup, and having him with us has been effortless, except for the stress on my other dog. He is a gem, and we want the best for him.
Charlie’s teeth are in really bad shape. They are infected and his gums are filled with pus. I have taken him to the vet because I cannot bear to witness an animal in pain, so he is now on antibiotics and pain medication. However, the vet has assured me this is only temporary, and he needs 11 teeth extracted for him to be healthy and comfortable. The quote for this procedure is over $4500. (See attached quote).
My partner and I are both self-employed as artists and have recently taken some time off to care for a friend after surgery and to attend my auntie’s celebration of life. It also is tax season, and Charlie’s medical bills are not something we had anticipated.
We have already spent $270 for Charlie’s first vet visit and he needs thousands more. We are simply not in the financial place to undertake this, and so we’re reaching out for help. I know this is a huge ask, especially in this economy, but if you are an animal lover and could donate even a small amount, it would go so far in helping this little guy heal, after he’s been through so much.
Thank you for reading and considering contributing to Charlie’s well-being. Any amount helps. <3
