Although I would usually be reluctant to ask for help, I really don’t know what else to do under the circumstances. On the morning of March 8th, my son Zachary was struck by a car while riding his e-bike to work. The driver ran a red light and Zach was thrown from his bike, over the roof of the car, and the impact of landing on the ground left him with a broken femur. A truly terrifying situation. Thankfully he received the best care possible, at an amazing hospital. While I am incredibly grateful that his injuries were not much worse, breaking the largest bone in his body requires a long road to recovery. And, unfortunately, the driver is underinsured. Zach has been employed at a winery for the past 3 1/2 years, as a server, and had just recently begun studying to become a sommelier. I am so proud of his accomplishments, he is such a responsible young man at 23 years old. As his mother, it breaks my heart to see him suffer this unnecessary and avoidable setback, especially due to no fault of his own… he always practices safe riding and obeys the rules of the road. Because of the severity of his injury, he will need physical therapy and is not expected to be able to work for months. Along with the loving support of his girlfriend, Sami… I believe Zach’s positive attitude and desire to return to his normal life will be crucial to his healing process, but he will suffer an immense loss of wages. So, I ask if you can please help in any way… no amount is too small, it would be so greatly appreciated. I just want to alleviate some of the financial stress for Zach, so he can focus on achieving a full recovery as soon as possible. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for any support you are able to give.
Sincerely, Michelle
