Please Help Me, Help a Young Migrant Family
Donation protected
I am coming to you to ask for help. I am helping a young migrant family from Venezuela who recently found housing after living outside for 3 months. They have entered the country legally and have a court date set in June 2024 to obtain their green cards.
I met this family when I was looking to donate my mom's furniture following her passing last week. They were so grateful and appreciative that they even offered to do work for me to "pay" for what I was giving them. It made me want to do more to help them.
So, here's the deal – I want to help them cover their upcoming rent and basic stuff until they can find some steady work. I'm working with them to get their temporary Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) so they can work legally until their court date. They're currently picking up odd jobs and saving but have rent due in another week, and they are still short on the total due. (It's tough when you don't have a steady income.)
If you can spare anything, even just a little, it would mean a lot to me and this family. It's about giving them a bit of breathing space, a chance to get on their feet without worrying about the next month’s rent.
This isn’t just about giving money. It's about showing this family that there are people out there who care and who want to help. I think about how much joy my mom would have knowing that the things she no longer needs are being loved by a new young family starting out.
If you can help me keep them in their nice new home while we get them steady work, it would sure add a bright spot to my week.
