Please Contribute to Moochie's Road to Recovery

Hi, my name is Rachel and I have created this fundraiser for my father in law Mario Zammit and his best buddy Mooch.

Mooch is an elder dog, approximately 15 or 16 years old - we are not sure. He's a Pomeranian with a lot of personality; and myself and my husband Kevin consider him our dog too. And dogs are not just dogs, they are family. A couple months ago Mooch started to experience some health issues.

We took Mooch to two different animal hospitals to have them tell us that he had a lot of problems and that we would likely have to consider end of life care. Not only was this completely traumatizing to my father-in-law and us, they also misdiagnosed what Mooch really needed to make a road to recovery.

Once we found the right vet (thank you Yorkville Animal Hospital) - we found that Mooch needed full dental surgery as well as a surgical removal of a mass. Blood tests and a biopsy confirmed that there was no cancer, however the dental surgery was crucial. The cost of the surgery alone was $7,000.

Mooch went through successful surgery on Feb 28. The vet said that we may have added a couple of years to his life. It goes to show how much dental health is important to little elder dogs.

My father-in-law now has his best bud back!

However he is also retired, and paid for all of Mooch's procedures out of pocket. This is including the visits to the vet that were not necessary, as well as medications that were not needed. I hope that this fundraiser can help my father-law and Mooch recover at least some of the expenses during this whole journey.
