I am fundraising to help my sister in law, Angie and her family, with the medical expenses, that are mounting up with her fight against cancer.
Background- In March, Angie went to the doctor for a suspected kidney stone. She ended up diagnosed with a non functioning left kidney, due to benign tumor creating a blockage in the ureter . While planning the surgery to remove her left kidney, she started to have pain on the right side, and blood in her urine. She eventually was diagnosed with High grade transitional cell carcinoma of the (right) kidney with squamous cell differentiation. This is a very aggressive cancer, that is typically found in older men. They would not have expected to find this in a woman in her 40’s, so in a way, it is a blessing that her other kidney stopped functioning, or they may not have caught it in time for Angie to have a chance to fight this horrible disease. Thankfully, the pet scan has showed that although some of her lymph nodes are involved, the cancer does not appear to have spread to other organs.
The Treatment will be Dense dose mvac chemo and then both kidneys will be removed. She will begin dialysis after chemo, and has to be cancer free for 2 years before she can go on the transplant list.
Angie has found a wonderful team of doctors at U of M, that are willing to help her fight the cancer. She is grateful to have found them. Unfortunately, the medical bills have already started to mount up, and treatment just began Monday, July 25th. She has had to fight the insurance company for the pet scan, the chemo, and even pain meds, and that is just to get a portion covered. Between the treatments, medications, doctors visits, having to travel to and from Ann Arbor two days in a row every other week, for chemo, and also for her doctors visits, in addition to the upcoming surgery and starting dialysis, This cancer is costing her a staggering amount.
Angie is a woman in her 40’s with 3 children who are not ready to loose their mom. She needs to fight this cancer with everything she has. She hates needing help, but her family hates seeing her worry about finances, and how much this cancer is costing. We want her energy to focus on beating the cancer.
If Angie’s struggle has touched your heart, and you can help, we thank you. Every bit helps. If you can’t help financially, but can share this, so perhaps others that can donate to help her with these mounting bills can see it, that is appreciated. Most of all, we ask for prayers for Angie and her family as they go through this. Thank you❤️
