I’m Jacki Burgy and I am raising money for my husband, Bob. He is in the hospital/physical rehab again.

You all know Bob has been going thru cancer treatments since 2021 and so far it’s kept his disease stable. The down side is that the treatments are stealing his memory and muscle. He doesn’t eat too much, tho he thinks he is. His weight is down to 107 pounds.

So here we are in 2025 thinking this is our year - no medical issues other than the obvious. Bob had fallen a lot in January . A few times he hit his head and he went to the ER to confirm everything was okay.

Last Sunday evening I was making supper and heard a bang. Now for a little back story, he hits a lots of walls and tables with his walker. Usually when I say “you ok?" I hear “yes” back. This time I got a “NO!” I ran in and saw he fell into the bathtub.

At the ER we found he had the usual bruises, but also fractured his right hip. The orthopedist decided he didn’t need surgery, but would need to go to a short term rehabilitation facility like he did last year. We had to wait until he got approval from insurance and, of course, they wanted the money up front.

When Bob is in the hospital more than a day or two something happens with his brain. They have called it Hospital Dementia previously. His brain tries to protect him by seeing things, hearing people talk with him and truly believes he is traveling as he did when his was in racing. It’s pretty upsetting to watch. It takes longer and longer for him to snap out of it each time.

After finally getting on our feet (kinda) after last year, we did have the money. But now have nothing. We have $4.32 in the bank.
