Help Support Gianni and Family
Donation protected
Not wanting to burden others, the Yahi family has kept this news guarded, and they realize you may be hearing it for the first time. Recently, Gianni was diagnosed with ALS. For over a year, he has lost the ability to use his right arm, and despite treatment for suspected nerve damage, his symptoms did not improve; in fact, they worsened. During the summer of 2023, doctors conducted extensive testing to determine an alternate diagnosis. Using a genetic test, Gianni’s medical team determined that Gianni has a mutated gene that has caused ALS. As rare as ALS is, only 2% of ALS patients have this mutated gene.
There is a new, promising drug on the market for patients with this mutated gene. Insurance has approved payment, and he will begin the treatment soon. Initial studies show the drug delays symptoms in patients. Despite this positive possibility, the family is proactively working to be make necessary accommodations to their home for Gianni’s safety and independence.
We are all inspired by Gianni’s positivity and strength. The family is grateful for the incredible outpouring of love and support already being received. Donations will be used to help pay for medical costs, equipment to maintain Gianni’s independence, and home renovations to help Gianni live comfortably on the main floor of their family home.
Prayers would be appreciated.
